Frost and R-ace GP Cap Championship-Winning Season at Portimão

Danial Frost closed out the 2026 Michelin Le Mans Cup season in commanding fashion, taking the final victory of the year alongside co-driver Enzo Peugeot at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, Portugal. The duo entered Round Six, the season finale, having already secured the LMP3 championship with R-ace GP in the #85 Duqueine D09, capping off a successful campaign with one final trip to the top step of the podium.

With the championship already decided, Frost and Peugeot remained focused on finishing the season on a high. Tackling the 4.653-kilometer (2.891-mile), 16-turn Portimão circuit, the pair set their sights on another victory to close out their championship-winning campaign.

Qualifying fourth overall on Friday, Frost knew he needed to move up front immediately. From the green flag, he made a series of decisive overtakes to work his way through the field and take the lead by the first corner. As contact and chaos quickly unfolded behind him, Frost kept the #85 Duqueine D09 clean and out of harm’s way, demonstrating composure and precision under pressure. From there, Frost and Peugeot controlled the two-hour contest, maintained their advantage through the closing stages, and secured their third victory of the six-round season.

The result marked a fitting conclusion to a campaign defined by consistency and front-running pace. With three wins and five podiums across six races, Frost and Peugeot claimed the 2026 Michelin Le Mans Cup LMP3 championship, marking R-ace GP’s second consecutive title.

“It’s incredible to end the season like this,” commented Frost. “We have worked so hard this season to get to this point, and it means so much to be able to not only bring home the final win of the season, but to have also secured the championship before going into the finale. R-ace GP have set us up perfectly and been so great to work with this season, so I just want to give a massive thanks to them. And none of this would have been possible without my teammate, Enzo. It’s been an honor to drive the #85 car with him and build such a strong partnership.”

With the 2026 season now complete, Frost leaves the Michelin Le Mans Cup as an LMP3 champion, having helped deliver the title for R-ace GP while finishing the year with a victory. Attention now turns to what comes next, with further updates on Frost’s 2027 racing plans to follow.
