Journey

It all began as a chance encounter at a toyshop, when something caught the eye of a young boy. That spark would ignite a desire, leading Singaporean youngster Danial Frost onto a path in motor racing.

“My mom built upon my passion sometime in December 2014, and from that point on, I started going to the go-kart tracks back home in Singapore”, he notes. What started out as racing for fun quickly turned serious as a competitive streak began to emerge from within the young Singaporean.

,,

Once I started winning and getting better results, not only did I start getting more and more interested, but also more serious. I realised I was thoroughly enjoying myself with every experience on the track – I just wanted more and more!

One day, the topic of the AsiaCup Series came up and the opportunity to test one level up from go-karts to single-seaters. Danial had not just caught the bug, he embraced it with a passion, and one he proudly carries with him on and off the racetrack.

In 2016 Danial made the move up to single-seaters, competing in the then newly-formed Formula 4 South East Asia Championship.

,,

I'm highly competitive by nature. I just need something to lock onto, and then I go for it. I draw a lot of inspiration from Lewis Hamilton, but the one I hold the most regard for, the Legend himself, Ayrton Senna

A good student at school, at the track and even at home, despite all the clowning around, his attentiveness to detail is always on point. Danial is prepared to sit for hours poring over data and even old racing videos, looking out for flaws in mistakes, observing if there are subconscious patterns he’s developed over time that hinders his progress.

He’s constantly on the uptake, looking to shape his game and hone his skills further, because he knows that’s the only way to achieve the goals he sets for himself.

,,

I like working with a good coach and engineer, because I gain a lot from the relationship. I listen to their past experiences, to adapt some of that into my own strategy. I've found it really helps me improve in every aspect. It's something I treasure a lot.

Future Plans

Still a long way from his prime, Danial is making sure each session on the track is nothing short of his best effort. He acknowledges that he has a lot to learn down the line, and is working towards focusing more on the setup of the car, its performance on different tracks and in different weather, and how his inputs make a difference as he works his way up in the championships.

While he currently has his sights set on the IndyCar trophy, he doesn’t rule out other series such as Formula 2. He’s playing his cards close while his team picks up the pace in securing sponsorships for him to spend his time doing what he loves – toeing the racing line at the tracks.

,,

I can't predict what the future holds for me, especially with so many variables at play. What I do know that, is when the opportunity presents itself, I will be looking forward to expanding my racing career in the big leagues, all the way to Formula 1
