Iowa Speedway on deck for Frost
Over four months since Danial Frost’s first win of the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season, Danial is eager to kick off the second half of the season with another win. Returning to Iowa Speedway this weekend, July 21-22, the INDY NXT field will see their first oval race of the season.
Since the start of the season, INDY NXT by Firestone has seen six different winners in seven rounds, and with seven rounds remaining, the Championship battle will continue to intensify. While Danial currently sits seventh in the championship, only 19 points separate him from the top-five drivers.
While he has yet to stand on the podium for an oval race in INDY NXT, Danial had a strong showing last year on the ovals with a seventh-place result at Iowa Speedway and a fourth-place finish at World Wide Technology Raceway.
Although Danial has yet to achieve a podium finish in oval races within the INDY NXT by Firestone series, his previous performances on ovals demonstrate his potential. Last season, Danial secured a commendable seventh-place finish at Iowa Speedway followed by an impressive fourth-place finish at World Wide Technology Raceway. With more experience on ovals than many of the drivers in the series, Danial is sure to be a contender for the podium this weekend.
Iowa Speedway is set to deliver an exciting weekend packed with high-speed oval racing from both INDY NXT by Firestone and NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers. Adding to the spectacle, musical performances by Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, and Ed Sheeran will keep fans entertained all weekend long. INDY NXT by Firestone will take to the 0.875-mile oval three times over the course of Friday and Saturday with one practice session closely followed by qualifying on Saturday afternoon. The field of up-and-coming drivers will then take the green flag on Sunday morning for round eight of the INDY NXT by Firestone championship.
